IZOD IndyCar Series rookie Simona De Silvestro was among six Indy 500 newcomers to successfully complete the Rookie Orientation Program at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, but on Monday she and the rest of the field were stymied by the weather. Persistent rain caused all track activity to be canceled today without a single car on track. Silvestro, though, reckons she is off to a good start at Indy with her No. 78 Stargate Resistance/Nuclear Clean Air Energy/Entergy car.

“I felt we ran some very strong laps, both in and out of traffic, and I felt really good accomplishing what we did this weekend,” said De Silvestro, one of the Indianapolis 500-record five female racers entered. “It was very exciting driving here and I'm really enjoying this track. I'm sure it's going to get more difficult as the days progress with more cars on the track and under traffic conditions, but I'm looking forward to the days ahead.”

Weather permitting, of course – and the forecast for the Speedway area is for rain through Thursday…
