Chris van der DriftFormer Superleague Formula race winner Chris van der Drift will return to Formula Renault 3.5 with Mofaz Racing this season.

The Dutch-Kiwi was sidelined from a successful 2010 season in the football-themed series after sustaining multiple injuries in an enormous accident at Brands Hatch in August.

Prior to the crash, in which a broken leg and injuries to his hand, shoulder and ribs were inflicted, the 25-year-old had registered four Superleague victories with Olympiacos.

Van der Drift has previous Formula Renault 3.5 experience, having graduated to the series with Epsilon Euskadi in 2009 as reigning Formula Master champion. A podium on his debut weekend at Barcelona was the highlight of van der Drift's season with the Basque-based squad.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Mofaz Racing outfit and to be returning to this series," said van der Drift. "I am confident that, together with the team, we will deliver a competitive performance throughout the season."

Mofaz Racing director Ferhan Fauzy added: "Chris is an experienced driver and has made a strong impression in every category he has raced in. He has potential to do great things.

"We look forward to working with him and are confident that along with Jake Rosenzweig, our American driver, he will help us finish in the top three of the teams' championship."
