A public memorial service for V8 Supercars driver Jason Richards will take place at Sandown Raceway on Monday, Jan. 9. Richards died from a rare form of cancer last month, at the age of 35.
Most of the V8 community will be present at Sandown for the memorial, which starts at 3 p.m. local time. Richards' father David will be among the speakers, along with drivers Jason Bright, Paul Dumbrell and Cameron McConville.
"It is important that all of those people Jason touched over many years can gather at the same place together to say their goodbyes," McConville said. "Jason's family wanted to have the memorial as close as we could to his passing to thank the thousands of fans for their support in the last few weeks, which has been incredibly difficult for his wife Charlotte and the kids.
"He was the ultimate people's person, always so positive and beaming no matter what life presented. Jason was like that to the very end."
