Marco Melandri will take no further part in this weekend's Dutch TT at Assen after the Italian suffered a dislocated left shoulder in an accident during final practice on Friday morning.
The Gresini rider was thrown from his privateer Honda RC212V, which high-sided after he ran over the curbing at the new, fast Ruskenhoek section of the track.
The 27-year-old suffered a posterior dislocation of the left shoulder, and was taken to Assen hospital having been initially assessed at MotoGP's Clinica Mobile on site.
While only ninth in the standings, Melandri had been building momentum since switching back to Showa shocks this season, with a fifth and a sixth place in the last three races.
Melandri's absence from the grid on Saturday means that as it stands, only 15 bikes will start the race.
