Peugeot's Kris Meeke rattled off the final stage of Sata Rallye Azores to win the fourth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge -- his second successive win in the series.

Despite the handicap of running first on the road on the final day, as torrential rain had soaked the stages, Meeke set the fastest time through the penultimate stage to seal victory as the final test was cancelled due to water-logging.  He beat Skoda's Jan Kopecky by 53.1 seconds.

Meeke takes the lead of the series thanks to his win, ahead of fellow Peugeot driver Freddy Loix.

There was late drama, as Anton Alen lost fourth place on the last stage. Loix came through the stage three minutes down on Meeke, as he had obviously been delayed by Alen's incident.

Eyewitnesses have reported a tow truck has been sent into the stage to retrieve the stricken car, which is believed to have spun and become stuck. Subsequent cars have been delayed by the crash.
