Shannon McIntosh is the latest driver to have her plans confirmed for the upcoming USF2000 season. After her rookie season with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing, 22-year-old McIntosh shifts to the No. 18 Pabst Racing Services entry for 2012, with TrueCar sponsorship.
The Miamisburg, Ohio, native cut her teeth on dirt and paved ovals in the Midwest through Quarter Midgets, Micro Sprints, Mini Sprints and most recently, Midgets under the guidance of legendary team owner Bob East. Last season was her first racing on road and street courses, and she finished eighth in the final series standings.
“After testing at the end of the 2011 season with Pabst, I couldn't be happier to join their team going into my second year of road racing,” said McIntosh. “The Pabst team understands my background and developmental needs as a driver progressing into open-wheel. I am 100 percent positive they will give me the best opportunity for success. I have learned that having a team behind you, who supports you and is willing to work toward one common goal is of absolute importance and I couldn't be more optimistic going into 2012.”
The series had almost 20 drivers participating in the recent USF2000 Winterfest series at Sebring and West Palm Beach, Fla. Although McIntosh didn't participate in that six-race stretch, she'll be joining the field in full for when the season launches this year, March 16 at Sebring.
