Neel Jani is to add a GT1 World Championship program with Matech Ford alongside his Le Mans Series commitments. The Swiss driver, who drives for Rebellion Racing in LMP1 in the LMS, will make his first appearance for Matech in the Spa 24 Hours, alongside Romain Grosjean.
"I was very happy to receive the offer from such a great team which has already been so successful in its young history," said Jani of the offer. "Obviously my focus is still F1 and open wheel racing. This is a real challenge and I will have a steep learning curve as I have never driven a GT car before, but I am very much looking forward to this new experience and helping Matech achieve its aim to win the series championship."
Jani has previously been part of Red Bull's Formula 1 testing roster and took Switzerland to the 2007 A1GP title. He also raced in Champ Car that season.
