Michael Andretti and actor Mark Wahlberg will join the field for the start of the Indianapolis 500 in the IndyCar Series' two-seater car.

Former Champ Car champion turned team owner Andretti will give Wahlberg a unique passenger ride in the car, running between the pace cars and the Indy 500 field on the parade laps, before racing 'round to the tail of the field as it prepares to take the race start.

"This sport is incredible," said Wahlberg. "I was blown away at the Long Beach Grand Prix by the speed and skill of these drivers – I've had the racing bug ever since. My career has taken me down many amazing roads, but nothing compares to this. This should be the ride of my life."

The event is part of IndyCar IZOD's promotional program with the two-seater.

"What a great place to be during an event like this," said Mike Kelly, executive vice president of marketing for IZOD's parent company Phillips-Van Heusen. "I would think it's like suiting up with a Super Bowl team and chasing the kicker."
