Philip Major will join Carlin Motorsport for the remainding rounds of the British Formula 3 season. The Canadian, who raced in the series for Fortec Motorsport last year, is taking the seat vacated following the dispute between the team and Oliver Oakes.

Major, who will make his debut for the team at Snetterton next month, said: "I have been given a fantastic opportunity to race for Carlin Motorsport and I'm really looking forward to racing with the team. It was tough sitting out the start of the year, but now I'm even hungrier to get back to racing."

Carlin director Martin Stone added: "We're very much looking forward to Philip joining the team at Snetterton. He has already missed part of the season, but we'll be working hard to help him get up to speed quickly.

"There are still some great circuits to come on the British F3 calendar and we'll be aiming to get Philip near the top as soon as possible."
