The organizers of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland will make significant changes to the Trier-based event as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of its arrival in the World Rally Championship.
With the exception of the Circus Maximus stage around the streets of Trier, every stage has been altered for the Aug. 23-26 event. The stages are longer and two completely new tests have been added to the itinerary.
The final day of the event will provide more of a challenge than last year, with two runs at a 19-mile stage with no service between them warming the crews up for the 2.7-mile power stage.
The shake-up has also been implemented to improve viewing on the event. The popular Arena Panzerplatte – run on Saturday last year – has been redesigned to allow fans the chance to see the competing cars for longer than ever before.
ADAC Rallye Deutschland clerk of the course Armin Kohl said: "I am so glad for all our rally fans that we were able to find solutions to make the ADAC Rallye Deutschland ever more exciting and better. Based on our proven itinerary and organization concept we laid excellent groundwork to offer the fans, drivers and officials the sort of great event they have come to appreciate in the years before."
Rallye Deutschland has not run every year since 2002, with the exception of 2009. Citroen has won every time, with Sebastien Loeb taking eight straight wins from 2002 until last year, when Sebastien Ogier's DS3 WRC was first.
