Corvette Racing's Jan Magnussen believes that striking the curb as he adjusted his line while overtaking a slower Porsche may have damaged his car's suspension, causing him to lose control. The #74 Corvette had been leading the GTE Pro class until the accident, which occured just before the Ford chicane.
"I went to the inside," said Magnussen. "There was room and I went for it, then he squeezed me a little bit and I had to cut over the curb. Maybe that broke the suspension or something because I had no control from there.
"It's a low curb - not even that big. It either broke the rear-left suspension or the right front. I don't know - it's hard for me to understand the behavior of the car afterward. I'm thinking about the other guy now because it took a while for them to get him out of the car."
