Craig Lowndes took pole position for the first part of this weekend's V8 Supercars event at Queensland Raceway.
The Triple Eight Holden driver had been fastest in practice on Friday, and carried that form through to the grid-setting session to secure the top spot with a lap of 1m11.0506s.
That put Lowndes 0.0253 seconds ahead of Tim Slade, as the James Rosenberg/Stone Brothers racer secured his first front row position.
Lowndes' championship-leading team-mate Jamie Whincup was fourth, sharing row two with the Kelly Holden of Rick Kelly.
Karl Reindler claimed an impressive fifth in the Britek Holden, ahead of Lee Holdsworth, Jason Bright, Steve Owen, Paul Dumbrell and David Reynolds.
Ford Performance Racing and Holden Racing Team both struggled, with Mark Winterbottom the best of the factory quartet in 12th for FPR.
