Jorge Lorenzo says he will give it everything to try and beat Casey Stoner in the MotoGP season finale at Valencia tomorrow, even though there is only pride left to fight for now that the championship is settled.
Yamaha rider Lorenzo missed out on pole to Stoner (Ducati) in a tense qualifying battle today, but is determined not to let the Australian dominate the race.
"I really tried to get the pole position today but Casey really was very quick," said Lorenzo. "Let's see tomorrow if we can stay with him. For sure we will try at the maximum."
Having won two of the three Spanish events held so far this season, Lorenzo said it would be extremely gratifying to end his championship season with another home victory.
"I'm really excited and very proud to be on the first row in front of my fans and in front of the Spanish crowd," he said. "It's special to race here, and it's the last race so everybody wants to do a good race."
