Jorge Lorenzo, Yamaha, Laguna Seca 2011Jorge Lorenzo wants to study video footage of his free practice crash at Laguna Seca this morning, having admitted he is baffled by the accident.

The reigning MotoGP champion had just made a practice start on his in-lap at the end of the session when he had a spectacular high-side at Turn 5.

Although Lorenzo initially struggled to get to his feet, he was able to limp away almost unaided, and has since been passed fit to contest qualifying later today.

"That isn't how I planned to finish the free practice," said Lorenzo. "I am not sure yet why I crashed, I need to take the video from Dorna and study it as I was not going that fast."

He is optimistic that the accident will not hold him back in qualifying, although he conceded that he will be in pain.

"I am very sore, especially in my hip, but happy to be uninjured and will still be there to give 100 percent in qualifying this afternoon," Lorenzo said. "Apart from the crash the morning session was good, the bike still needs more going into the corners but we are getting there."
