Sebastien Loeb will contest next month's French Championship qualifier, the Rallye du Var, with his wife Severine co-driving.

The pair will drive a Citroen C2 S1600 and hope to emulate the third place they managed on the Cote d'Azur-based event 12 months ago. The rally uses some of the stages which feature on the Monte Carlo Rally route. The six-time world champion has good memories of Rallye du Var – it was the first French Rally Championship round he ever won.

Loeb's co-driver Daniel Elena will also be competing, but he will be driving a Citroen C2 R2 on the final round of the French series.

There were rumors that Ford's number one driver Mikko Hirvonen would be joining them on the event in a Ford Focus RS WRC, in an effort to gain more asphalt practice ahead of next season's World Rally Championship. Ford has since confirmed Hirvonen will be testing in the area instead.

The event runs from November 27-29.
