Sebastien Loeb has praised his Citroen C4 WRC after he completed his 100 percent winning record on asphalt rounds of the World Rally Championship in the car.
Since the C4 WRC was launched at the start of the 2007 season, there have been 13 pure asphalt rounds of the World Rally Championship – and the Loeb/C4 WRC combination has won them all. Loeb also won the two Monte Carlo Rallies he started in the C4 as well.
Following his final asphalt win in a C4 in Catalunya yesterday, Loeb said: "It gives the heartstrings a little tug as this car has given us a lot of happy moments on all kinds of surfaces.
"Counting Monte Carlo, we've won the 15 asphalt rallies run over the last four years. This weekend we didn't have to do any calculations, so it was much easier than in the previous rallies."
Citroen managing director Frederic Banzet was delighted with his Racing department's performance.
"What Sebastien and Daniel [Elena] have done is really quite incredible. Three weeks after the craziness of Rally France, they were able to keep up their motivation and performance level to score a victory full of panache. As Spain is Citroen's second-biggest market, this win is very important for the marque.
"I'd like to congratulate the whole team, and say how much I admire their professionalism and their conscientiousness in a relaxed ambiance after winning the two titles in Alsace."
