Sebastien Loeb, DPR World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb has denied that his appearance at this week's GP2 test at Jerez is a warm-up for a Formula 1 debut at next month's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Frenchman remains hopeful of making a cameo appearance on the F1 grid, but said his run for DPR yesterday was no more than a bit of fun. "It's no link [to Abu Dhabi]," Loeb said. "This chance to test in GP2 is a private opportunity from an engineer from the [French] Porsche Cup, where I drove last year, and who now works with DPR.

"I'm just doing this because I have the chance. I would like to do the [F1] race, but nothing has changed – it's the same every day."

Loeb was 18th in yesterday morning's wet test, but fell to the tail of the 25-car field when the track dried later on.

The five-time WRC champion has been linked with a future F1 switch since impressing Red Bull Racing in a one-off test last winter.
