Formula 1 Management has exonerated LG of any blame for the live timing screens going down in the final minutes of qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The final minutes of Q3 were run without any official timing screens, meaning that no one knew who had secured pole position for several minutes after the session.

FOM has blamed the problem on a damaged cable causing the finish line sensor to suffer a mechanical failure, adding that no timing data was lost as a result.

"In the closing minutes of the Q3 qualifying session, the Official Live Timing system did not update the timing screens," said a statement issued today. "This was due to the finish line sensor suffering mechanical failure in the form of a damaged cable. Well-established back up procedures ensured that no data was lost and complete results for the qualifying session were quickly established and released.

"Formula 1 Management would like to clarify that at no time was this the result of the failure of any equipment supplied by LG, the Official Data Processor of F1."
