Strakka Racing's Nick Leventis believes that his team are still in charge of the LMP2 class at Le Mans despite an extended pitstop to repair the #42 car's rear bodywork.
The HPD ARX.01 he shares with Danny Watts and Jonny Kane has led LMP2 since the beginning of the race.
Leventis brought the car in during the 21st hour and the team were able to perform repairs without wheeling the car into the garage.
"I picked up a puncture on the right rear on my in-lap," Leventis told AUTOSPORT. "It damaged some of the bodywork. We're something like five laps ahead of the next car so we could afford to take some time to fix it.
"This has been a fantastic experience. I haven't slept. To come here and be leading the class is incredible. We've got such a good lead now that we can afford to be very gentle with the car."
