Dragon
Racing's Katherine Legge was able to get on track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time this
month, as the Indianapolis rookie completed the first two phases of her rookie
orientation program.
She
had been sidelined per the team's ongoing engine saga where team principal Jay
Penske had sued Lotus, and then was trying to figure out how to acquire a
Chevrolet engine lease.
“It's unbelievably satisfying (to get through
two phases of ROP)," said Legge, who turned laps at more than 210mph on
Thursday. "This morning, we had a small issue with the car, but we were
still able to complete the first phase. The team has done a great job. They are
all really tired and they worked really hard to put the engine in and get all
the bits on to get us out. So it's thanks to them that we were able to do what
we did today. And also Sebastien (Bourdais). He shook down the car and made
sure everything was fixed from this morning. I can go home now very
happy."
Bourdais, in Dragon's second Chevrolet-powered
DW12, ran his first laps at the Speedway since 2005 both in the shakedown in
the morning and then later in the day in the revised livery with black and
silver colors.
