A new historic racing series, "Legends of Motorsport, A Bobby Rahal Signature Event," will bring back familiar and famous racing names to four major North American road courses this summer. The four-race inaugural series will visit Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama, May 21-23; Watkins Glen International, June 11-13; Canada's Circuit Mont Tremblant, July 9-11; and Sebring International Raceway, Dec. 3-5

Legends of Motorsports will be bringing back cars and drivers of 30-50 years ago. The classes scheduled to compete include 2-Liter Sports Cars, Can-Am/USRRC, Fabulous Fifties, Historic Grand Prix, Classic Monoposto, IMSA GT/World Championship of Makes, Trans-Am/Thunder and Lightning, Group C/GTP, and Formula Libre.

The series is organized by Historic Motorsports Productions (HMP), a partnership of three businessmen, racers and lovers of motor racing history – Bobby Rahal, Zak Brown and Peter Stoneberg. Together, they have realized a dream of organizing the ultimate showcase for historic racing, one that brings together the legendary cars, drivers and tracks that marked out an extraordinary period in the history of auto racing.

The four races will allow the public to see former championship cars back on the track racing again, whether it's an authentic Formula 1 car from 1972, an original Can-Am racer or a venerable Lotus 60. These spectacular cars will compete on legendary circuits that were an integral part of racing's glory days.

"Legends of Motorsports marks a new era of motorsport,” says three-time CART series champion and 1986 Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal. "We want to share our passion for everything that has marked the history of motorsports by bringing together yesterday's finest racecars in a series of major events. They will be prestigious affairs that participants will be proud to be a part of, but still highly accessible for any fan.”

All tickets are general admission and provide access to the paddock at no extra charge. VIP hospitality passes will also be available.
