Jari-Matti Latvala, Ford, Mexico 2012Jari-Matti Latvala has been forced to retire from Rally Mexico due to damage sustained in his SS22 accident.

The Ford driver had continued in seventh place following the crash, but was prevented from starting the next stage as the officials judged that Latvala's rollcage was damaged.

Early leader Latvala had already fought back from breaking his suspension on Friday and breaking a wheel on Saturday to regain third. But he then crashed again saying he had made a mistake when distracted by the crashed M-Sport Ford of Evgeny Novikov.

Latvala's title rival Sebastien Loeb is on the brink of securing the rally victory.
