IZOD IndyCar Series officials have scheduled a news conference for Tuesday in Las Vegas, where they are expected to announce the season-ending race on the 2011 schedule. IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard, several current drivers and IndyCar legend Al Unser Jr. will be on hand for the announcement, scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.

It has been expected for sometime that Las Vegas Motor Speedway would replace Homestead-Miami Speedway as the venue for the season finale. The Vegas event is widely tipped to run on Oct. 16, two weeks after the penultimate round at Kentucky.

Homestead has been the site of the finale for most of the past decade, including last season, when Dario Franchitti slipped past Will Power to claim the series championship.
