Formula Renault 3.5 frontrunner Jon Lancaster will compete in Auto GP this season after signing a deal with Super Nova Racing.
Lancaster will replace former A1GP South Africa driver Adrian Zaugg for the third Auto GP event of the year this weekend at Brno. The deal comes shortly after the young Briton's impressive performance in testing at Barcelona, in which he posted the third fastest time at his first attempt behind the wheel.
"In Barcelona I really loved the car," said Lancaster. "I'm delighted to be here. I'm looking forward to first practice, I will use it to get back into the pace and get acquainted with the car again. I have good expectations as I know the track quite well, so I should be able to push quickly."
Team principal John Sears added: "Jon is one of Britain's most amazing talents and we have followed his career since the very first years. Having him with us is a huge pleasure, and we hope that we'll be able to help him to achieve the results he deserves. We think that we have what it takes to give him a very competitive car and we have very high expectations."
Prior to his stint in Formula Renault 3.5, 22-year-old Lancaster also competed in the Formula Renault Eurocup in 2007, securing five wins and four pole positions, and had a season in the Formula 3 Euro Series.
