SPEED.com reports that IndyCar veteran Tony Kanaan is close to signing with KV Racing for the upcoming IZOD IndyCar Series season. The Brazilian, cut loose from Andretti Autosport at the end of last season, had signed with the DeFerran Dragon team, only to see it fold due to a lack of sponsorship. Now the team owned by Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser is trying to add him to its program, which already includes a pair of Lotus-backed IndyCars for Takuma Sato and E.J. Viso.

“I don't think it's any secret we'd love to have Tony and we've been working hard to make it a reality but it's still a work in progress,” KV Racing general manager Mark Johnson told SPEED on Thursday evening.
