Scott Morris from AutoRacing1.com
recently teamed up with K1 Race Gear
for the Championship Karting International media event at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Orlando, Florida. The media race was held on the same temporary circuit as that used by the professional karters in the CKI All Stars event, and was a way for members of the media – both experienced individuals and those new to the sport of karting – to participate in the activities surrounding the motorsports trade show. We were pleased to have the opportunity to sponsor Scott and the AutoRacing1 team as well as provide a custom kart suit
for the event!
In the rainy qualifying session, Scott was able to earn a 2nd place starting position on the grid, behind David Cole from eKarting News. After a race incident on the first lap though, Scott unfortunately dropped back to last place in the field. Amazingly, Scott was able to fight his way back to 4th place by the end of the race! Considering his performance, Scott very likely could have been in contention for the race win, but such is racing; sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug!
Scott described the race as being quite demanding. “Driving the karts on this tight track in the slightly slower karts still gave a very obvious indication of how much a kart beats on the body, and especially on this very tight twisty track. We ran three 20 lap sessions and a 20 lap race to the main karter's several sessions at more than 30 laps each, with a 40 lap main event. It is easy to understand why race drivers have to be in top physical condition.” Thankfully, the race was made more comfortable for Scott because of his custom K1 Race Gear karting suit, which he said was the most comfortable he had ever worn! “To me the low price almost doesn't make any sense, and they turned around a custom suit for us in about two weeks!”
It was a pleasure working with AutoRacing1.com and we're glad to hear that our K1 custom racing suit was so well received!
