The boat which caused considerable disruption to the Jordan Rally route this week has now been impounded by the Israeli ministry of transportation.

The boat suffered a second engine failure while trying to dock in Haifa yesterday morning. The teams are now looking for a replacement boat to transport the kit away from Jordan and on to the next World Rally Championship round in Sardinia.

A source at the Haifa Port Authority said: "The boat is not allowed to sail now because of the engine problems. They will need to find another [boat] to take the cars away. When we had a green light [to bring the boat in] we stopped all other traffic in the port to make sure it was a quick and safe entry using three big tug boats."

The teams are believed to have sourced a new vessel which will sail from Tel Aviv to Italy and on to Sardinia well in time for the start of WRC round five, which kicks off on May 5.
