Andrew Jordan British Touring Car Independents class champion Andrew Jordan wants to race more in the USA after topping Daytona testing in the Street Tuner category.

The 23-year-old will share a Compass360 Racing-run Honda Civic Si with James Colborn in the Grand-Am Continental Tires Challenge race at Daytona, which supports the Rolex 24 later this month. Jordan set the Street Tuner class pace over the three-day test with a time of 2m06.642s, putting him ahead of fellow Honda driver Ryan Eversley and BMW's Terry Borcheller.

"We haven't been outside the top three, wet or dry, which is nice," said Jordan. "It's more standard than the BTCC and it's low-powered, so you need to keep up the momentum. Hopefully we'll be able to get a good result and get on the podium."

Jordan is now hoping he can compete in the Monterey and Watkins Glen rounds later in the year as he explores American racing options.

"This is a toe in the water, but I'd like to do more," he added. "It's good for me career-wise. There are some guys here who are pretty well paid; it's a good thing to take advantage of the chance."

Jordan's main 2013 campaign remains a BTCC title bid with an NGTC Honda Civic run by Eurotech.
