Jacques Villeneuve Sr., the uncle of the former F1 World Champion and Indianapolis 500 driver with the same name, remains in intensive care at the Sherbrooke Hospital in Quebec after suffering serious injuries while snowmobile racing on Saturday.
Canada's CBC reported that Villeneuve, 59, sustained several fractures and a punctured lung after colliding with another racer at the Valcourt ski-doo Grand Prix.
The elder Villeneuve, younger brother of the late grand prix star Gilles Villeneuve, was a CART IndyCar regular during the 1980s, winning a race, and also competed in three F1 events in 1981 and '83. In recent years he has focused on snowmobile and powerboat racing.
