1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve is looking to set up his own "Villeneuve Racing" squad to compete in Formula 1 next season, according to German media report. Auto Motor und Sport claims Villeneuve Racing, which would be based in England, is one of the three candidates for the 13th and final place in pit lane.

The 39-year-old French-Canadian wanted to return to the cockpit this year with Stefan GP, but the Serbian squad was refused an entry. According to AMuS, some 10 candidates originally made applications to race next year, but now there are only three in the running, including Villeneuve's bid and the American-based Cypher Group.
