SPEED.com reports that IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard is considering having Iowa switch to a doubleheader race format for 2012, following the lead of this year's race at Texas Motor Speedway. However, unlike the twin-race format in Texas, the Iowa double would be on consecutive days on the Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
“I talked with Jerry Jauron (Iowa Speedway track president) and he loved the idea and now I want to talk to our owners, partners and networks about it," Bernard told SPEED's Robin Miller. "This could be a way we maintain our balance of oval and road races. I think it's certainly worth taking a look at – especially Iowa.”
