Infineon Raceway hosted more than 1,500 people at an IndyCar open test less than two weeks ago. Wednesday, that event became the last piece of history under that name, with the news the track's naming sponsor won't renew its contract.

A Wednesday report by the Sacramento Bee revealed Infineon Technologies, based in nearby Milpitas, won't continue its sponsorship of the road course in Sonoma, Calif. Infineon has instead elected to have its 10-year, $34.6 million contract end at its May expiration date. The track began branding itself as "Sonoma" on its website Wednesday, with Infineon Raceway's imprint reduced.

Orlando-based Cordova Marketing Group has been hired to seek a new naming sponsor, according to the Sports Business Journal. In the interim, the track formerly known as Sears Point Raceway is devoid of naming sponsor, and leaves Fontana's Auto Club Speedway as the only NASCAR track with one.
