Las Vegas Motor Speedway president Chris Powell told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the track is in negotiations with IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard to bring the IZOD IndyCar Series back for 2011 after a 10-year hiatus. Like the former Champ Car event at the track, the IndyCar event would be paired with LVMS' NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, which is scheduled for Oct. 15 next year, although not on the same day.
"We are in discussions about hosting an IndyCar race the day after next year's Truck race," Powell said, adding that the race would be the IndyCar Series season finale.
Bernard characterized the talks with Powell as "preliminary."
