Terry Angstadt, Indy Racing League president of commercial affairs, says the league has begun discussions with the Chinese government aimed at bringing an IndyCar Series race there within the next few years.

The defunct Champ Car series tried several times to run a race in China, without success, but Angstadt told the Associated Press that IRL officials have been to China two or three times already for negotiations, and met with high-level government officials.

"We are not there yet," he told the AP of an IndyCar race in China. "It's something for at least two years in the future, maybe three."
