ESPN.com is reporting that IndyCar officials are considering a change to double-file restarts for the series, similar to the rule NASCAR adopted last year. League president of competition Brian Barnhart confirmed to ESPN that he had discussed the issue with Roger Penske, who favors the change.

"We have discussed it with Roger," Barnhart said Friday. "We are open to the possibility of double-file restarts. Right now, we're exploring all possible scenarios and taking a look at how they could play out and affect an event."

Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage is also in favor of the rule, and is lobbying for it to be adopted in time for his race Saturday night.
