IndyCar expands Indianapolis testIndyCar has expanded next week's planned manufacturers test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to allow all teams to take part as the series works toward finalizing the aero kit for the Indy 500.

Teams will be limited to one car each for the April 4 test, which will be used to try out the aero configuration that will be used for the Indianapolis and Fontana races.

"What was originally scheduled to be a manufacturers' test has been expanded to provide each team the opportunity to send one car to the test," IndyCar vp of technology Will Phillips said on IndyCar.com. "Dallara has worked hard to make sure all the required parts are available to allow teams to test the new package."

The aero kit will be similar to that used at other ovals, but with tweaks to the rear-wheel guards, rear-wheel backing plates, and sidepods. They have already been tested in the Auto Research Center wind tunnel in North Carolina.

The test will not be open to rookies, who are still scheduled to run at the Rookie Orientation Program for the Indy 500 on May 10.
