Dario Franchitti and Brian BarnhartDario Franchitti, Justin Wilson and Tony Kanaan will front a new IndyCar drivers' association. The organization – similar to Formula 1's Grand Prix Drivers' Association – will share ideas and present a united front on issues including safety and promotion.

"A lot of us sit and talk, but to get everybody in a room together was the main focus," said Franchitti. "We'll get the opinions of everybody about safety – the things we see at the tracks that others don't. It's been a long time coming."

IndyCar president of competition Brian Barnhart welcomed the input. "I've always tried to be accessible to any of the drivers for any issues they raise," Barnhart said. "Anything that can be done to present it in a more organized fashion, I fully support.

"If we have a unified voice coming to speak to us about any concerns in terms of safety, facilities or anything like that, it is welcome."
