Autoweek reports that rumors of a deal to run the IndyCar Series season opener in Rio De Janeiro next year are incorrect, or at least premature. Autoweek reports that series officials said that someone hacked into the official series Web site, IndyCar.com, and posted a story that had been prepared ahead of a possible deal, but that no such agreement has yet been concluded. The IRL has announced plans to run its 2010 opener in Brazil but has yet to confirm a site. The leaked report claims that the event will be run March 14 on a nine-turn, 2.3-mile course through the streets of Rio. The city hosted CART Indy car races on a modified oval from 1996 to 2000.
