"In Focus" studio photo shoots have long been an integral part of RACER magazine, but the format has been given another tilt for our forthcoming September issue. After introducing the idea of photographing a car with "race dirt" still in place last month in our shoot of the Muscle Milk HPD prototype, September's photo feature goes a step further by transforming "In Focus" into "In Situ": Rather than utilizing a photo studio, we tasked LAT Photographic's ace, Michael Levitt, with shooting Antron Brown's Matco Tools NHRA Top Fuel dragster at its home base, Don Schumacher Racing's race shop in Brownsburg, Ind.

As RACER's NHRA expert, Todd Veney, notes in the accompanying text – which delves into the history of Top Fuel chassis development as well as getting Brown's insights on what it's like to ride the beast – a Top Fuel dragster "looks fast just sitting there. Three-hundred inches long, with a towering wing on the back and a 500cu.in., 9,000hp engine, there's no doubt what it was built to do: accelerate faster than any land-locked machine ever created."

In short, it's the perfect accompaniment to a September issue dedicated to power in all its forms. We'll give you a full rundown of what you can expect from the issue soon, but we're confident you won't want to miss it.
