Pramac Ducati MotoGP driver Andrea Iannone will undergo arm surgery on Tuesday.
The Italian suffered from arm pump during this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez and eventually crashed out. He had also crashed in qualifying, sustaining cuts to his legs.
A team statement said the arm issue had "caused a loss of feeling and strength" throughout the Jerez weekend.
Iannone is expected to be fit to complete in the next race at Le Mans on May 19.
Pramac's other rider Ben Spies is also struggling with physical problems, sitting out Jerez to recover from lingering issues that began with his heavy crash in Australia last October.
