Nico Hulkenberg is still hopeful about his chances of staying at the Williams team next season, although the German has made it clear he will not pay to keep his drive.
The German rookie is yet to be confirmed at the team next year, with speculation suggesting over the past days that Williams is keen on finding a driver with financial backing. Hulkenberg reckons both himself and the team are interesting in continuing their relationship next season.
"I think both sides are still interested in each other and I'm quite confident that we will get together but there is nothing official or nothing I can openly talk about. What I can say is that I think the best for me and my development and everything...my point of view is that I really would like to stay with Williams, because the car can be competitive next year."
The Williams driver said, however, that he will not try to find financial backing to retain his drive.
"No. I don't want to be a driver who gets a seat because of money. I never wanted to, it's not my intention," he said. "For me, talent counts – I hope for the team, too...
"For me the sooner the decision is taken the better, but there's a lot of traveling now and so it's more difficult. I think it will take a few weeks."
