Hughes not fit for Thruxton BTCC return
British Touring Car independent Jason Hughes will not be fit in time to return to the series at Thruxton this weekend.
He is recovering from knee surgery in February and had to sit out the season opener at Brands Hatch three weeks ago. Hughes had hoped to be passed fit for the Thruxton races but will have to wait at least another week to be cleared.
"I competed in only three events in 2005 but that was through choice," said Hughes. "Missing these events is not through choice, it's doctor's orders.
"I'd be a fool to ruin the progress that my knee has made by racing now, but believe me it has crossed my mind."
Hughes's KWR Sport team has begun work preparing a second MG ZS and hopes to run a two-car team from mid-season onwards.
