Mikko Hirvonen has crashed out of the Jordan Rally on the opening stage of leg two.
The Finn was running fifth going into today, but was just 12 seconds behind second place and hoped to rapidly gain ground thanks to his strong road position.
But Hirvonen hit a bank on the Suwayma stage and broke his Ford's suspension, ending his participation in day two. He is expected to return under the superally system tomorrow.
Hirvonen's title rival Sebastien Loeb moved ahead of Sebastien Ogier to take second on the same stage. Jari-Matti Latvala still leads by half a minute in the remaining works Ford.
