IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe has become the latest driver to sign up for V8 Supercars' Gold Coast 600 event in November. The 25-year-old Canadian will share one of Garry Rogers Motorsport's Holden Commodores at the Surfers Paradise event.
"For me it's a dream come true to get behind the wheel of one of those cars," said Hinchcliffe, who is seventh in the IndyCar standings going into this weekend's Fontana finale. "With the V8 Supercar you probably have just as much horsepower as an IndyCar but a lot more weight, tin-top, closed cockpit, and the tires are a lot skinnier with a lot less grip.
"It's also a pretty gnarly track and we'd like to get the Commodore on the podium for sure, just a V8 car instead of an IndyCar."
GRM has yet to confirm whether Hinchcliffe will partner Alexandre Premat or Michael Caruso, its two regular drivers this season.
Hinchcliffe joins fellow IndyCar drivers Justin Wilson, Will Power, Simon Pagenaud, Marco Andretti, Mike Conway, Graham Rahal and Sebastien Bourdais on the entry list.
