Former RACER editor, and longtime F1 and motorsports journalist Andy Hallbery suffered some medical issues last year and is now getting some help with the bills from NBC Sports' Sean Kelly, who is helping raise money to support Andy's recovery. Here's Sean's story. Please help out if you can! -Ed.

I will be running in the San Diego Half Marathon on Sunday, March 10, raising money for the well known F1 writer, and personal friend, Andy Hallbery.

While visiting me from the UK last year, he suffered a medical emergency, and the hospital bills have been even more crippling than the health problems. With that in mind, I'm hoping to raise a few quid to help him get back on his feet and show that a lot of us Formula 1 folk want to help him get back to full health :)

I'm not a runner, in fact I HATE running!  Prior to January 2013, I'd only ever ran more than three miles once in my entire life, but I've completed over 100 miles in training already and I'm looking forward to the race.

If everyone I've contacted sends in £1 each, then I'll reach my target – and I'm going to throw in £60 to get things started.  Andy will be receiving 100% of the money donated (after website fees) to help him pay for his treatment.  Let's do this!
