Heinricy, Rahal, Prather Headline Full SCCA Runoffs Weekend on SPEED

TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 22, 2005) – Two SCCA National Championship Runoffs® veterans and a rookie spearhead a full holiday weekend of Runoffs tape-delayed SPEED Channel coverage beginning this Saturday afternoon.

Two races, shown back-to-back, are slated for each Saturday and Sunday, with GT Lite and Touring 1 on Saturday, Nov. 26, followed Nov. 27 by G Production and Formula Atlantic.

Each day’s coverage begins at 1 p.m. (EST).

Things to watch:

- GT Lite, a new class that combined GT-4 and GT-5 prior to the 2005 season, joins the Runoffs fold this year and Warren Montague, of Manakin Sabot, Va., starts the inaugural Championship from the pole after running the class’ lone sub-1:36 qualifying time earlier in the week. Montague has won a Runoffs Championship before, winning GT-4 in 1997.

- The past four T1 Championships have belonged to John Heinricy. Never mind winning, the Holly, Mich.-driver hasn’t trailed a single lap during his four-race stretch. With the likes of Scotty B. White, of Puyallup, Wash., Lance Knupp, of Fenton, Mich. and Cindi Lux, of Beaverton, Ore., in the fold, however, Heinricy’s consecutive laps led stretch, and, more importantly, his T1 streak, could come to a close.

- Like Heinricy, Kent Prather, of Wakarusa, Kan., has also won multiple championships. However, all of his five prior titles have come in Production. And should he win the G Production race, six Production titles would make him the all-time leader in Runoffs history. In order to so, he’ll have to beat polewinner Kevin Dennis, of Rochester, N.Y., to accomplish the feat.

- For the first time in nearly 30 years, the name Rahal is once again at the Runoffs forefront. This time it’s 16-year old Graham, who will attempt to win Formula Atlantic. If he does, Rahal will become the youngest driver to ever win a Runoffs title. Odds are in his favor, as he was the fastest driver in both FA practice and qualifying.

Replays of the H Production and C Sports Racing shows, which first aired a week ago, will be shown at 4 a.m. (EST) – HP on Monday, Nov. 28 and CSR on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
