The #1 Audi e-tron quattro of Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer stretched its advantage over the sister #2 e-tron quattro over the second hour of the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours.
Only Allan McNish was able to stay within one minute of Lotterer, as Toyota's Alex Wurz gradually slipped back a little during the hour before once again having to pit earlier than the Audis, dropping him back from the lead fight.
Loic Duval and Mike Rockenfeller in the #3 and #4 Audi R18 ultras were also able to match the lead pace, but remain slightly adrift after small issues in the opening hour.
Duval, who had to make an extra stop, is currently third overall, while Rockenfeller worked his way up to seventh, having dropped out of the top 10 following garage checks on his R18.
Nicolas Lapierre and Sebastien Buemi, who took over in the #7 and #8 Toyotas respectively just before the second hour, lie fourth and fifth.
Nick Heidfeld meanwhile remains the lead non-factory LMP1, currently sixth in the #12 Rebellion Lola.
Across in LMP2 Olivier Pla moved into a lead of around 20s in the #24 OAK Racing Morgan-Judd.
Tom Kimber-Smith captured second for the #44 Starworks HPD, although he remains closely shadowed by Soheil Ayari in the #49 Pecom ORECA-Nissan.
John Martin in the polesitting ADR-Delta ORECA slipped from an early class lead to ninth at the end of the second hour after pit issues and a spin.
GTE Pro remains a duel between Corvette and Aston Martin, although Gianmaria Bruni temporarily led in the #51 AF Corse Ferrari as a result of being able to stay out for one lap longer.
Oliver Gavin had moved ahead of Stefan Mucke (Aston Martin) to give the #74 Corvette the lead, only for Mucke to regain the advantage shortly after.
Corvette took over at front following the second round of stops, but Darren Turner - replacing Mucke - passed the newly installed Tommy Milner to reclaim the advantage.
Sean Pumpelly meanwhile extending his advantage in the GTE Am class, his #79 Flying Lizard Porsche now well clear of the field.
His cause was aided by technical issues for the #99 Aston Martin Vantage, which lost several laps as a result of a misfire which the team could find no definite cause for.
NOTES
- The quickest LMP1 qualifier, Strakka Racing's HPD, was pushed back into the garage before the start and joined the race on lap six.
- The #17 Pescarolo started the race from the pitlane after an engine change ran late. The team's #16 Dome also pitted with drivetrain issues.
- Misfire for #99 Aston Martin Vantage hands #79 Flying Lizard Porsche sizeable GTE Am lead.
