TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 29, 2005) – SCCA and SPEED Channel will kick off 2006 with the 23rd and final race of the 2005 SCCA National Championship Runoffs from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as GT-2 is set to broadcast New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. (EST).

All eyes will be on polesitter Duane Davis, of Camas, Wash., who is gunning for the 13th Runoffs win of his career, which would be second all-time behind only Jerry Hansen’s 27. Should he take the GT-2 checkered flag, it will be the seventh class title for Davis.

Twenty-two other drivers will attempt to knock Davis off the top spot, including David Finch, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Tom Patton, of Hamilton, Ohio, who will start second and third on the grid. However, it appears Davis and his Toyota Celica are both in top form as he turned a 1:28.973 to earn the pole – the only time under 1:29 for any GT-2 competitor during qualifying.
