Romain Grosjean will be hit with a five-place grid penalty for the United States Grand Prix thanks to a gearbox change.
Grosjean's Lotus hit gearbox trouble during Saturday morning's one-hour free practice session, losing fourth gear and forcing the team to fit a replacement unit before qualifying. It is the second time that Grosjean has had to serve a penalty for changing his gearbox, the first coming in July's German Grand Prix.
The Frenchman had finished Friday practice at Austin in 13th position, two places behind teammate Kimi Raikkonen, winner of the previous race in Abu Dhabi.
