NBC Sports Network has also confirmed plans for some cross-pollination between its Formula 1 and IndyCar broadcast teams this year.
In addition to Leigh Diffey, who leads both F1 and IndyCar broadcast teams, F1 analyst David Hobbs will be in the booth at Milwaukee, while fellow F1 analyst Steve Matchett will join the IndyCar broadcast booth during the Toronto doubleheader weekend. Will Buxton, another member of the network's F1 crew, will report from pit lane during at least two IndyCar events. And Bob Jenkins will anchor the Carb Day and Indy 500 pre-race shows from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
"It was suggested last year that I might be wanted for special events and features during the year, but I had not planned on assuming my old position of anchoring a telecast from the booth. But I'm delighted to do so,” Jenkins told IndyCar.com. “It doesn't mean I'm coming out of retirement, but any time I can be of assistance to the NBC Sports Network, I will do my best to accommodate."
